Gatekeeper was founded in 2004 in Greenville, SC with the goal of providing customers the unique opportunity of making only one phone call for any maintenance issue. This was an innovative concept and a solid business model was created. In the early years Gatekeeper focused primary on facility and property maintenance services such as landscaping, parking lot sweeping, painting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roof repairs, pressure washing, storefront glass, asphalt and concrete repairs, seal coating and striping and other general maintenance items. While continuing to provide facility and property maintenance, Gatekeeper has expanded to include specialized one-time cleaning projects, final cleans/post construction cleaning and complicated overhead cleaning. In 2012 Gatekeeper obtained their General Contractor License in both South Carolina & North Carolina and began offering build out/upfit and renovation services to our existing clients. Today Gatekeeper holds an Unlimited GC License in the State of SC and a $500,000 License in the State of NC. While Gatekeeper continues to have a strong presence in South Carolina it now has Area Managers in Charlotte, NC and Greensboro, NC. No matter where in the southeast a project presents itself, Gatekeeper seeks to exceed its customer’s expectations through a commitment to excellence and integrity. The goal is always do the right things at the right time and for the right reasons.
Gatekeeper is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gatekeeper Services, Inc. The following is a brief history of Gatekeeper’s parent company, Gatekeeper Services, Inc.
In 1955, Dick Hendley started a small family-owned business called Gatekeeper Services in Greenville, South Carolina providing restroom cleaning to gas stations and restaurants.
Dick was a true pioneer in industrial outsourcing. He began providing janitorial services to manufacturing customers who needed around-the-clock cleaning. His vision helped manufacturers outsource indirect jobs, such as sweepers, haulers, packers, cleaners, and allowed clients to focus on their core business — making products — not cleaning up. This was the start of outsourcing as we know it today.
The need for a better quality of cleaning in the textile industry brought Gatekeeper Services its first industrial client in 1958 — a client still being serviced today and one of the first industrial facilities to outsource janitorial services.
Over the past 56 years, Gatekeeper Services, which is still owned by the same family, has grown steadily by providing quality, consistent services to its customers and a broad range of cleaning and support services. Today, Gatekeeper Services has a presence in 18 states offering positive outcomes and solutions to our customers.
